NEW DELHI: Delhi Police‘s SIT has filed a chargesheet against nine persons involved in the murder of three persons at Gokulpuri during the northeast Delhi riots. After murdering the men, the rioters had dumped their bodies into the Brijpuri canal to destroy evidence.
In the chargesheeet, the police mentioned the nine accused were a part of the group that were raising slogans with intent to hurt religious sentiments. Following this, a mob had started to stop people passing by, asking them their religion, and subsequently attacked anyone belonging to the other community.
In the chargesheet, police said that the murders took place during the large scale arson of houses and shops. The spot where the incident had happened was in a colony where two groups were facing each across the road and were pelting stones and firing weapons.
Eyewitness accounts of people who had seen the murders were recorded and the mobile data of the accused was analysed and they were tracked down from different parts of the city.
