Car bomb, gunfire outside Afghanistan ministry; no word on casualties

KABUL (Reuters) – A car packed with explosives blew up outside Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Works on Monday, with gunfire then breaking out, the interior ministry said, but there were no word on casualties.

Nasrat Rahimi, a spokesman at the interior ministry, said several gunmen took up positions in a nearby building after the blast and they were exchanging fire with the Afghan security forces.
